Rules
Cushion coins launch on StonkFun against SOL. Each coin's creator fees go to its own pot wallet, and every 30 minutes the pot pays SOL back to traders who sold out at a loss. Everything below is enforced by the keeper and visible on chain.
The rules
A payout every half hour, on the :00 and :30.
Each round's fees plus a quarter of the reserve, so one crash can't drain it.
A loss counts up to half of what the position cost.
Quick flips count in proportion to how long they were held.
Nobody gets more than half their counted loss; the rest rolls over.
Cost above 5 SOL isn't covered; the loss is scaled to 5 SOL.
Positions held longer than a week aren't covered.
You must sell (rounding aside) through the market. Transferring coins out voids the cover.
What counts as a loss
A position starts with your first buy of a coin and ends when you hold none of it again. It is covered only if all of these are true:
- You sold it all. You sold through the market until at most 1% of what you bought is left (dust and rounding are fine).
- You sold, you didn't send. If any of the coin left your wallet by transfer instead of a sale, the whole position is void. This stops people moving bags between their own wallets to fake losses.
- You lost SOL. The SOL you got from selling is less than the SOL you paid. Network fees don't count either way.
- It wasn't ancient. Your average entry was within 7 days of selling out.
- You're not the launcher. The wallet that launched a coin is never covered on it.
- It happened after cover began. A coin launched elsewhere and added to Cushion later (like the official coin) is covered from the moment it was added. Earlier holders are still tracked, so their exits count once cover has begun.
Trades count wherever they happen, as long as they hit the coin's own liquidity: the StonkFun curve, the Raydium pool it graduates into, or any router or bot that trades through them (Jupiter, Axiom, Photon and so on). Just before paying, the keeper also checks your wallet really holds none of the coin.
The maths
When you sell out, your position gets a claim:
loss = SOL paid − SOL received counted = min( loss × min(1, 5 SOL ÷ SOL paid), 50% × min(SOL paid, 5 SOL) ) weight = min( 1, time held ÷ 30 min ) time held from your SOL-weighted average entry claim = counted × weight
When a round closes (every :00 and :30 UTC) each coin settles on its own. Whatever arrived in the pot since the last round is that round's fees; whatever was carried over is the reserve.
pot = fees + 25% × reserve payout = min( pot × your claim ÷ all claims, 50% × your claim ) reserve' = reserve + fees − payouts
Payouts below 0.001 SOL aren't sent (the transfer would cost more than it's worth) and stay in the reserve. A round settles about 2–2 minutes after it closes, once every trade in it has been read from the chain.
Worked example
A pot carries a 4 SOL reserve into a round, and 1 SOL of fees arrives during it, so the pot is 1 + 25% × 4 = 2 SOL.
- Ana bought 2 SOL, held 2 hours, sold for 0.6 SOL. Loss 1.4, capped at 50% × 2 = 1.0. Full weight. Claim 1.0.
- Ben bought 8 SOL, held 40 minutes, sold for 5 SOL. Loss 3 scaled to a 5 SOL position = 1.875, capped at 50% × 5 = 2.5, so 1.875. Full weight. Claim 1.875.
- Cat bought 1 SOL, sold 6 minutes later for 0.7. Loss 0.3, weight 6/30 = 20%. Claim 0.06.
All claims add up to 2.935. Ana's share of the pot is 2 × 1.0 ÷ 2.935 = 0.68, but her ceiling is 50% × 1.0, so she gets 0.5 SOL. Ben's share is 1.28 against a 0.94 ceiling: 0.94 SOL. Cat's share is 0.04 against a 0.03 ceiling: 0.03 SOL. In all 1.47 SOL goes out, and the reserve carried into the next round is 4 + 1 − 1.47 = 3.53 SOL.
Where the money is
Each coin's pot is a wallet Cushion holds, set as the pool's creator when the coin launches, so StonkFun forwards the creator share of the 1% curve fee straight into it. The pot only ever sends SOL to traders; the network fee on every payout is paid by Cushion's keeper wallet, so a pot loses exactly what its traders receive. Every payout carries an on-chain memo cushion:payout:TICKER:round. Each coin page links its pot wallet.
FAQ
Do I need to claim?+
No. Payouts are sent to the wallet that sold, automatically, a minute or two after the round closes.
Is this insurance?+
No. A pot can only pay what its coin's fees put in, payouts are capped at half your counted loss, and a quiet coin has a small pot. It softens losses; it doesn't remove them.
Can the pot run dry?+
It can't go negative: it never pays more than it holds, and each round only draws a quarter of the reserve. A run of bad rounds just means smaller payouts.
Why did my loss not count?+
Open My cover: every exit shows why. The usual reasons are coins sent to another wallet, a few percent still unsold, or the launcher's own wallet.
Can I trade from any app?+
Yes. Cushion reads balances from every transaction that touches the coin, so StonkFun, Jupiter, Axiom, Photon and bots all count, as long as the trade hits the coin's own pool.
What does the launcher get?+
A coin that's easier to buy. Creator fees go to the pot, not the launcher, and the launcher's own losses are never covered.
